AWESOME!

I had the opportunity to continue my KU inventory job during the summer and took it. As I tag and record new items, I have to take pictures. It's just a small point-and-shoot camera, but I am glad I had it for this Haworth lab find!

KBM portrait

I had a shoot for the Kansas Banker Magazine. The editor and I wanted to try a little something different for the cover portrait - different at least for the magazine. I busted out the ringflash. I know it can get overused really easily, but how many banker magazines use it?

mai

I shot the Lawrence High School graduation at Memorial Stadium this past weekend. I didn't reinvent how to shoot a commencement, but I did make a publishable photo. So, I got that going for me.

they only have themselves to blame...

"The real reason traditional media companies are freaked is because they’re losing control. They’ve dropped the leash and the dogs are running wild. Now they’re sitting around with their arms folded saying, “They’ll be back when they realize they need us.”

"Sorry, guys. We don’t need you. You can join the pack and run with us if you like, but the leashes will never be back."

- Derek Powazek

(I found this via twitter from my old boss. thanks, thad.)

in the thick and thin of summer...

I go to work when I wake up and get to it.
I take midnight bike rides on Freedom Creek.
I immerse myself in dirty lake water (enjoying every second).
I sleep in view of the stars more often.
I listen to music louder.
I spend more time without clothes suffocating my body.
I make green grass my napping blanket.
I cook and bake like the housewife I never want to be.
I find the happiness I always knew I had.
I capture more photos for the memory books.
I miss old friends.
I become nervous about August plans (or the lack there of).

I am moving with the summer tide.

just another four years...

Many soon-to-be grads are exuding a lot of nostalgic feelings right now.
Not me.
I don't think it's because I didn't enjoy my college career.
I did enjoy it.
I don't think it's because I am a fifth year.
I know it's not.
I don't think it's because I am tired of Lawrence, or even Kansas for that matter.
That's simply not possible.

It's because I am ready.

Ottawa meets Pawhuska

I just got back from a weekend trip to Pawhuska, Okla. The town is so small that people park on the wrong side of the street, and no one cares.

After years of thinking I wanted to be a city girl... I have come to realize I could never be too far away from open spaces.

I don't want to be surrounded by asphalt my whole life.
